Machine and plant operator

Tasks and activities:

Machine and plant operators specialising in metal and plastics technology set up and operate production machines and plants.  They also retrofit and maintain the machines. They work in a customer-oriented manner and assemble components into assemblies in compliance with quality specifications. 

Training content:

• Metal basic training
• Control technology
• Joining technology
• Quality assurance
• Assembly technique
• Work in occupational training departments

Vocational school:

12 weeks of block school per year

Requirements:

• Secondary modern school qualification
• Technical understanding
• Mathematics skills
• Spatial abilities
• Manual dexterity
• Dedication, the ability to work in a team, desire to learn
