SUMMARY Responsible for planning, establishing, implementing, maintaining, and monitoring the Health, Safety, and Environment Management Systems to control or eliminate risk related to health, safety, and environment. With the committed support of management, promotes a culture focused on safety and injury prevention.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

In each of the duties listed below the employee is expected to perform to the highest standards of quality, to strive for maximum customer satisfaction, and to continually look for ways to improve the practices and procedures of this position.

Develops, implements, and revises required written safety, health, and environmental programs and plans in an industrial environment.

Incident reporting, 5 why and corrective action reporting

Acts as the company’s ISO 14001 environmental representative.

Prefers a ISO-14001 certified auditor

Acts as an informed resource for employees and management on matters pertaining to health, safety, and environment, including interpretation of Acts, Regulations, and Standards.

Reports and identifies unsafe conditions and works with appropriate staff to determine and implement corrective actions

Ensures that federal, state and local laws, regulations, rules and codes are adhered to.

Strong OSHA background to conduct training for specific things such as: HAZCOMP.

Manages OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements. Updates and reports monthly in accordance with company policy.

Helps develop controls for identified hazards, coordinates the implementation of controls from result of hazard analysis. Measures and evaluates the effectiveness of the hazard control system, policies, and procedures, and recommends changes that reflect improved opportunities to eliminate work place accidents and injuries.

Plans, develops and implements safety training for new employee orientation and annual compliance programs.

Plans, develops and implements safety and environment training for supervisors and managers to ensure best practices are understood and utilized throughout the facility. Works closely with supervisors to develop an effective, proactive safety culture within the plant(s).

Facilitates collaboration and communicates with various internal parties (corporate, maintenance, production, engineering, human resources, union, etc.) on various topics including investigations, corrective actions, inspections, reports, and audits.

Facilitates or completes risk/hazard assessment, Job Safety Analysis, workplace inspections, and audits. Verifies that safety inspections and necessary corrective actions are completed according to company policy and regulations.

Coordinates industrial hygiene activities as required.

In conjuction with local plant management, develops and implements metrics that hold employees at all levels within the plant(s) accountable for their safety and environmental performance.

Communicates and interacts with employees to better understand their perception of the safety and environment program and to identify gaps between different groups of employees.

Compiles, analyzes, interprets, and reports incidents per company policy. Works closely with plant Human Resources department in consultation on worker's compensation claims.

Implements health, safety and environment policies in accordance with corporate HSE policies and identifies additional site-specific policies that are required by law.

Advises the Plant Manager and Human Resources Manager on changes needed in the employee handbook with regards to safety and safety rules. Meets with union leadership, as needed.

Monitors, revises, and implements changes based upon safety and environmental regulations, laws, or reporting requirements.

Tracks and analyzes incident and hazard statistics and trends to develop necessary corrective actions.

Facilitates the Plant(s) Safety Committee.

Reviews and approves purchases of all safety supplies, products, or training items required.

Implements and maintains 5S initiatives and other continuous improvement efforts.

Other duties assigned.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and requirements, environmental regulations, International Material Data System (IMDS) and REACH. Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Ability to read and understand safety, health, and environmental regulations and ability to understand the implications of regulations. Familiarity with DOT, NFPA, and ANSI standards and/or requirements. Ability to read and understand current and pending safety, health, and environmental laws. Ability to read and understand audit reports. Good verbal and written communication skills.

EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Safety, Health, and/or Industrial Hygiene or related degree and at least five years' experience.

TRAVEL Up to 5% travel.

Summary of Job Duties:

Regularly plans and leads multiple project teams, sets priorities within projects, and organizes project teams to develop and release new products from design inception through manufacturing, and product launch to market. Responsible for product design, development, and support of products. Assigns project personnel to specific phases or aspects of project, such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plan and product testing. Directs integration of technical activities and products. Prepares interim and completion project reports. Provides product support for all internal and external customers. Evaluates and recommends disposition of Deviations, Engineering Change Notices (design changes, specifications, drawing releases, etc.) and supports product testing requirements. Has demonstrated success in launching at least two products that contribute to SAF-Holland market leadership.

Qualifications Required:

Qualification 1:

Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Engineering (B.S.) from a four-year college or university required.

Qualification 2:

5 - 8 years’ experience in design / development area of product engineering and project management.

Qualification 3:

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualification 4:

To have taken all requirements for PMP Certification.

Qualification 5:

Strong knowledge of physical and mathematical principals such as Statics, Strength of Materials, Kinematics, Dynamics, and Physics. Knowledge of manufacturing processes. Ability to communicate orally and in writing ideas and design concepts to both technical and non-technical personnel, experience in production, tooling, solid modeling, and design.

Qualification 6:

Working knowledge of MS Office for documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Qualification 7:

Has good understanding of organizational structure and all departmental interrelations and responsibilities.

Qualification 8:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and other engineering related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from internal or external customers. Ability to effectively present design engineering information.

Qualification 9:

Must have the capability to apply principles of modern algebra, plane or solid geometry and trigonometry to both physical & theoretical design problems. Able to apply and interpret advanced mathematical concepts involving interpolation & curve fitting, calculus, differential equations, and statistics.

Travel Requirements: 10% periodic travel may be required

Work with regional engineering teams and customers on development and testing of prototypical products. Provide technical support for existing product lines. Introduce electrical components, sensors, and systems into traditional products. Provide electrical and electronic expertise to product design teams with a constant emphasis on quality, safety, and reliability.


Qualifications Required:


Qualification 1: Bachelor of Science (BSEE preferred) degree with emphasis in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Mechatronics from a four year college or university;

Qualification 2: Five + years of experience in electrical engineering field working as part of multifunctional engineering teams;

Qualification 3: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualification 4: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to technical peers, management, customers and public groups.

Qualification 5: Ability to apply advanced mathematical, electrical, and electronic concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations needed to analyze test data - such as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Qualification 6: Ability to use a personal computer; working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and remote communication software and tools. Proficiency with: AutoCAD, Solidworks, MATLAB, PSpice/LTSpice or similar.

Qualification 7: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
