Detlef Borghardt

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) & President Region APAC/China

Detlef Borghardt has been CEO of the SAF-HOLLAND Group since July 1, 2011 and has also served as President for the Region APAC/China since January 1, 2016. Between 2007 and 2011 Detlef Borghardt was Head of the Trailer Systems Business Unit and also assumed the position of Deputy CEO in January 2011. Detlef Borghardt joined the former SAF in 2000 as Head of Sales, Services and Marketing. In mid-2007, he was appointed to the Management Board and assumed responsibility for the Trailer Systems Business Unit. Before joining SAF-HOLLAND, he held various management positions with Alusuisse-Lonza in Singen, Germany, including Director of Marketing, Sales and Engineering as well as Head of Sales for aluminum extruded products. Detlef Borghardt holds an engineering degree in vehicle design from the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, Germany. 

Dr. Matthias Heiden

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Dr. Matthias Heiden has been the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a member of the Management Board of the SAF-HOLLAND Group since March 01, 2017. He is responsible for the areas of Finance, Accounting and Controlling, IT, Legal and Compliance, Human Resources, and Investor Relations and Corporate Communications. Dr. Heiden holds a degree in business administration and a PhD in economics. In addition to his apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in London, he studied business & finance at Suffolk College, UK. He then continued his career at Deutsche Bank Saar AG and completed a dual-study program at the University of Saarland with a degree in business administration. He graduated from the university’s Institute for Accounting and Auditing with a doctorate degree in economics. Following assignments at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting and Ernst & Young, Dr. Heiden joined SAP SE as assistant to the Executive Board and then held executive positions, among others, in Corporate Financial Reporting. He was also the CFO of SAP Svenska AB and SAP’s Head of Global Treasury. Dr. Heiden then became the CFO of SAP’s German subsidiary in October 2014 to then take an enhanced role as Regional CFO for Middle and Eastern Europe.

Arne Joern

Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Arne Joern has been the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and a member of the Management Board of the SAF-HOLLAND Group since October 17, 2016. Prior to this, Mr. Joern, an experienced manufacturing specialist, held several executive positions at the Company including Vice President Global Operations & Vice President Operations EMEA. During that time he was responsible for the strategic direction and operating improvements of the Group’s plant network. In September 2012, Mr. Joern joined the SAF-HOLLAND Group as Vice President Operations Trailer Systems. In this position, he executed several measures that improved both quality and efficiency. In the period from 2010 to 2012, before joining SAF-HOLLAND, he was a plant manager at Still GmbH in Hamburg. In the years 2007 through 2010, Mr. Joern was the Executive Director Operations at NORGREN GmbH, a subsidiary of the engineering and industrial conglomerate IMI plc. He contributes his extensive knowledge of the automotive and commercial vehicles industries gained from his time at VW in Wolfsburg and VW Commercial Vehicles in Hannover as the Group Quality Resident Engineer for Valeo. Mr. Joern graduated from the University of Braunschweig with a degree in mechanical engineering. He also graduated as a REFA engineer for industrial engineering from the REFA Institute in Darmstadt.

Alexander Geis

President Region EMEA/India

Since January 1, 2016, in the course of the new organizational structure, Alexander Geis has held the position as President Region EMEA/India and is member of the Management Board. From July 1, 2011 until December 31, 2015, Alexander Geis was as member of the Management Board responsible for the Aftermarket Business Unit after assuming overall responsibility for the segment on October 1, 2009. As Head of this Business Unit, he was responsible for the strategic and operative alignment of the global spare parts business. His professional career at SAF-HOLLAND began in 1995 in the sales area. In the following years, Alexander Geis took on various tasks with a continuous growth in responsibility in the company. These included Sales Director Foreign Markets and Director Spare Parts as well as Vice President and, most recently, President of the Aftermarket Business Unit. Alexander Geis holds an MBA from the University of Maryland, USA. 

Steffen Schewerda

President Region Americas

Steffen Schewerda has held the position of President Region Americas since January 1, 2016 and is member of the Management Board. Previously, from July 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015, Schewerda was President of the Trailer Systems Business Unit. At the same time, Schewerda, as member of the Management Board, has been responsible for Group Operations since June 20, 2007. Steffen Schewerda has been with the company since 1997 in various management roles including Head of Material Management and Logistics and responsible for the entire production at the German locations as well as industrial engineering. Steffen Schewerda studied engineering at the University of Aachen and holds an MBA from the Universities of Augsburg and Pittsburgh, USA. 

Guoxin Mao

Guoxin Mao

President Region China

Guoxin Mao has been President China of the SAF-HOLLAND Group since July 01, 2016 and was appointed as Management Board member effective August 09, 2016. Before joining SAF-HOLLAND, Mr. Mao held several executive positions in the Automotive and Commercial Vehicle Industry. His last position was as Assistant to the President of Chery Automobile Co., Ltd and President of Chery Technology Co., Ltd, where he, among others, was fully responsible for the operating business of 77 subsidiaries with 5 business units. In the period 2011 to 2014, Mr. Mao held the position as Fiat Global Executive. From 2011 until 2013, Mao held the position as Executive Deputy General Manager in SAIC IVECO Hongyan Company Ltd. He has gained far reaching understanding of the Automotive and Commercial Vehicle Industry in China between 1996 through to 2016 in various management and operating positions at company´s such as General Motors for instance. Guoxin Mao graduated from Shanghai Tongji University in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering. He also holds an Executive MBA from Singapore Nanyang University.
