SAF-HOLLAND affirms sustainable and responsible corporate governance by joining the UN Global Compact

Luxembourg, February 12, 2019 - The listed supplier for the trailer, truck and bus industries, SAF-HOLLAND S.A. ("SAF-HOLLAND") has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest initiative for responsible corporate governance. The signatories are guided by ten universal principles related to human rights, labor standards, environmental protection and corruption prevention. Today, roughly 13,000 companies and organizations worldwide are participating in this initiative.

SAF-HOLLAND's commitment to sustainability is based on the award-winning "Think Ahead" sustainability initiative. This initiative, launched in 2015, has become an integral part of the Group-wide sustainability concept at the SAF-HOLLAND Group and is comprised of the three pillars of people, energy and the environment. The various projects focus on increasing the sustainability of products and production processes and strengthening the Group's social commitment. In 2018, SAF-HOLLAND published its first sustainability report, which follows the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative.

"We have established an all-encompassing sustainability reporting system to ensure that the success of our sustainability concept and its contribution to corporate performance is made transparent. The Group companies acquired this and last year are also included in our key performance indicator system," explains SAF-HOLLAND's CFO, Dr. Matthias Heiden.

By joining the UN Global Compact initiative, SAF-HOLLAND, within the scope of its membership in the German Global Compact Network, has an opportunity to exchange views with other companies and gain valuable input for the continued development of its own sustainability strategy. SAF-HOLLAND will publish an annual progress report to give a comprehensive update on the implementation of this strategy.

"At SAF-HOLLAND, sustainability is an attitude. As a corporate citizen, we believe it's our duty to assume social responsibility and practice this in our day-to-day activities," explains SAF-HOLLAND's CEO Detlef Borghardt, adding: "The SAF-HOLLAND sustainability concept includes environmental and consumption-related goals in addition to our social commitment and corporate governance that is both sustainable and responsible."

The SAF-HOLLAND 2018 Sustainability Report will be published on April 30, 2019.
